Child dies in riding lawn mower accident, deputies say

LENAWEE CO., Mich. (WTVG) - A child is dead after being struck by a riding lawn mower in Lenawee County, authorities said.

A 52-year-old grandmother was mowing the lawn and didn’t know that the child was outside at the time, according to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office. The lawn mower hit the child. First responders took the child to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Deputies did not release the name or age of the child who died.

The incident happened around 4:50 p.m. Sunday in the 11000 block of Herold Highway in Woodstock Township.
